One question that we get all the time is about optimal video length.
If you are wondering about how long your videos should be, keep watching this video as I’m gonna share some useful insights.

Hi there! This is Jeff from Room4Media and today I’m gonna give you some tips on how to establish the right duration for your sales and marketing videos.

This will mainly depend on your video goals and buyer’s journey.

To understand what type of content you need to create, you first need to understand your customer’s buying cycle.

Buyer’s Journey Graphic

There are 4 main stages, however keep in mind that every business has its own, depending on their target market and what they are offering.

Awareness Stage

In this stage, your viewers are strangers and you need to quickly grab their attention by showing them a problem that they might be facing and then showing them that you have the right product or service that solves their problem in a unique manner.

We recommend having video teasers with a duration of 15 to 30 seconds that end with a call to action inviting viewers to visit your website, landing page, fill a form or to contact you for more information.

Consideration Stage

Now that you’ve got their attention, you need to show them in further detail how your product or service will solve their problem, benefits, real life applications, ect.

At this stage, video duration could range from 1 to 5 minutes, or even slightly longer.

Longer videos could be also split into shorter videos or uploaded on interactive video platforms that allow viewers to watch only what is relevant to them.

Decision Stage

At this stage, duration is not that important. The most important is to make sure that your video content is created to educate your prospects to take an informed decision.

Analyze your community’s behaviour, identify what they love and create videos content accordingly.

It’s all about creating a connection, create videos that tell stories consumers connect to on an emotional level rather than talking just about your product or service.

Testimonials can help prospects take a quick decision and How-to videos could be also very helpful to answer any frequently asked questions. You could also show pre-recorded webinars.

Retention Stage

Finally, you need to delight those that once were strangers and now are happy clients. Always keep creating and sharing video content that your followers value and benefit from.

Create video about Trends in the space you operate in, new products that you are developing, or even upselling additional products and services that can help them.
